Council Planning

Place Plans

Place Plans provide a focus to planning that will still meet the individual needs and desires of every town – each have similar needs in terms of service delivery, but each have their own character and identity that must be captured.

MacDonnell Shire Council will undertake a place planning process with every community in the coming years.

A Place Plan will be the record of this place planning process. A Place Plan recognises the knowledge and strengths of local communities, and aims to build community capacity.

A successful Place Plan will bring together the MacDonnell Shire Council, a town’s Local Board, government and non-government agencies working in that town and residents in the community to plan and deliver the outcomes of the place.

The Place Plans will help contribute and drive the MacDonnell Shire Plan, and can also contribute to Government agency plans.

Shire Plan

The MacDonnell Shire Plan will bring together the vision and goals of the Shire Council. The MacDonnell Shire Plan plays a key role in guiding Shire administration and focuses on working toward achieving the long terms aspirations of every Place Plan.

Through links to the strategic goals of the MacDonnell Shire Plan, every aspect of the Shire’s day-to-day business with be guided by the Shire Plan.
