Imanpa

Imanpa

Imanpa is about 200 kms south west of Alice Springs and forms part of the Iyarrka Ward.

It is located about 7 km north of the Lasseters Highway and about 17 kms from Mt Ebenezer Roadhouse which is owned and run by the community.

Imanpa was established on a 1.7 hectare exclusion from Mt Ebenezer station in 1978.

The community is predominantly Pitjantatjara and Yankunyatjara although Walpiri, Luritja and Arrernte people also live there.

There are two schools in the area, a primary school, and a secondary school which is part of Nyangatjatarra College based at Uluru. Pupils spend half of the year locally and half of the year at Uluru, an experience which greatly benefits them.

Some pupils recently enjoyed a trip to Victoria, a real insight which has enticed the majority to travel interstate again.

The current estimated population is about 180 residents.
