Ordinary Local Board Meetings

Ordinary Local Board Meetings are convened by the CEO or their delegate, and are set at the start of the Calendar year.

If there are changes to the scheduled meeting time, members of the  Local Board, including Ward Councillors, must be given at least seven  days notice about the rescheduled date, time and place for the meeting.

Ordinary Local Board Meetings will be an opportunity for MacDonnell  Shire Council Executive to report on Shire Service Delivery, and for  Local Board members to present any issues to Shire Executive about  Service Delivery.

Ordinary Local Board Meetings will be an opportunity for MacDonnell Shire Councillors to report on Council business.

Through the use of templates provided to each Local Board and with  support of Shire Service Managers, an agenda must be prepared for  Ordinary Local Board Meetings, and minutes must be recorded and  presented through a report to the next MacDonnell Shire Council meeting.

Special Local Board Meetings

Special Local Board Meetings are called by the CEO or his delegate,  and the Chairperson of the Local Board can request for a Special Local  Board meeting to be called.

The purpose of the Special Local Board Meetings is to deal with  important issues that might need to be discussed, and cannot wait until  the next scheduled Ordinary Local Board Meeting.

Members of the Local Board, including Ward Councillors, must be given at  least seven days notice about the rescheduled date, time and place for  the meeting.

The CEO or their delegate/s must attend Special Local Board Meetings.

Through the use of templates provided to each Local Board and with  support of Shire Service Managers, an agenda must be prepared for  Special Local Board Meetings, and minutes must be recorded and presented  through a report to the next MacDonnell Shire Council meeting.

Informal Local Board Meetings

Informal Local Board Meetings are convened by the Chairperson of the Local board.

The CEO and Ward Councillors must be informed that an Informal Local  Board Meeting is being held, however it is not essential that Ward  Councillors and the CEO or their delegate/s attend.

The purpose of Informal Local Board Meetings is to allow Local Board the opportunity to meet and discuss any issues informally.

An Informal Local Board meeting might be held to see if other Local  Board members feel that an issue is important enough to convene a  Special Local Board meeting.

An Informal Local Board meeting might be held to discuss something that  Local Board members don’t feel is related to Shire Council business, and  therefore it is not essential that the discussions be reported to  Council.
