Council begins again

Following the 2017 NT local government elections MacDonnell Regional Council held its first meeting on Friday 15 September. Newly elected councillors joined with re-elected councillors to nominate and vote for their principal members, the President and Deputy President.
Council elections had previously been conducted in Luritja Pintubi Ward and Rodinga Ward while Iyarrka Ward and Ljirapinta Ward had each received the same number of nominations as their required number of councillor positions so no vote was required in those wards.
