This week, MacDonnell Regional Council (MRC) proudly celebrated the official opening of the new change room facilities at the Hermannsburg (Ntaria) Football Oval, delivered with the support of the Federal Government.

On Monday morning, Marion Scrymgour MP joined Council President Roxanne Kenny to officially open the new facility and cut the ribbon, marking an important milestone for sport and recreation in Hermannsburg. As part of the ceremony, the change rooms were officially named in honour of Brian "Ntjalka" Williams, a respected member of the Hermannsburg community whose lasting legacy has made a significant contribution to the region. A commemorative plaque was unveiled to recognise his name.

The project delivers modern change room and toilet facilities for the football oval, addressing a long-standing need within the community. A new scoreboard has also been installed, creating a more complete sporting precinct for local residents and visitors.

These important upgrades will support greater participation in sport, improve community health and wellbeing, and strengthen Hermannsburg's ability to host regional sporting carnivals, community events and youth activities for years to come.

MacDonnell Regional Council wishes to thank the Federal Government for its support in delivering this valuable community project.
