Success at the 2025 Territory Tidy Towns Awards

MacDonnell Regional Council (MRC) is proud to share the recognition earned by our dedicated staff and communities at the 2025 Territory Tidy Towns Awards in Darwin. These honours reflect the shared commitment of our teams and local leaders to building a cleaner, greener and more sustainable future across the MacDonnell Region. 

Awards won by MRC: 

  • Climate Change Readiness Award – MacDonnell Regional Council 
  • Waste Management Award – MacDonnell Regional Council Plastic-Free Communities Award – MacDonnell Regional Council 
  • Liveable Communities Award – MacDonnell Regional Council Community Beekeeping Project 
  • Citizen of the Year Award – Keith Hassett, Director of Council Services at MacDonnell Regional Council 
  • Best Regional Council Award – MacDonnell Regional Council 
  • Best Small Community Award – Ikuntji (Haasts Bluff) 
  • 2025 Territory Tidy Towns Award – Ikuntji (Haasts Bluff) 

                For the second consecutive year, Ikuntji (Haasts Bluff) has taken out Best Small Community and the Territory Tidy Towns Award, cementing itself as the Territory’s benchmark in sustainable community practice and culturally inspired environmental leadership. This recognition is a testament to the commitment and efforts of the Ikuntji community, who now have the honour of representing the Northern Territory at the 2026 National Tidy Towns Awards in Launceston. 

                We take great pride in being acknowledged as a leader in positive environmental change. These accolades would not be possible without the dedication, innovation and hard work demonstrated by our staff and community members. We continue to be aligned in our commitment to delivering sustainable outcomes that benefit all our residents.
